Has Rove Fallen Asleep at the Political Wheel? I Wouldn’t Bet My Life on It!

Don’t you find it interesting that we don’t hear much about Karl Rove in the news like the good old days? I say this with full throttle sarcasm because every time I hear a single environmental headline come out of Gov. Schwarzenegger’s mouth I cringe feeling like Satan just walked through the door knowing that those words were freshly ripped from the morning briefing book of Karl Rove.

So where has our good ol’ buddy Karl Rove been these days? What has Satan’s little helper been up to? If the GOP is going to win 55 electoral votes in California during the Presidential election they have got to get a popular Governor in place and have him avoid the words “global warming” while spewing borderline GOP “climate change” environmentalism. Well I guess that task item can now be stricken from the Rovian playbook and the 2008 GOP check list.

What other GOP agenda items are on the task list for 2008? Like the many other confused Americans watching primetime television, I too have been wondering who is this oil man T. Boone Pickens and why has he all of the sudden had a change of heart to become a die hard environmentalist? T. Boone Pickens has sure gobbled up costly amounts of prime time media which must surely be affecting his fiscal bottom line. Yet I guess if you’re really a dire hard environmentalist getting more free press can provide a larger return on your own investment by increasing your personal revenues to support a much larger political cause. But what is that larger political cause lingering in the shadows?

To solve the mystery my first inclination was to consider the origins of T. Boone Pickens. It is well known fact that T Boone Pickens is an oil man from Texas. Well now that’s a ten gallon coincidence, Bush is from Texas. But folks guilt by association is not necessarily a sufficient standard to convict someone of GOP media posturing. In fact just living in the same state doesn’t meet the burden of proof or substantiate a preponderance of evidence to rat out a GOP agenda nor a Rovian surrogate skunk.

Then all of the sudden this morning I happen to notice that T. Boone Pickens is so dedicated to his environmental cause that he landed a meeting with Presidential candidate John McCain. How fortunate for the future of our environment that Pickens now has connections with the GOP political machine. Is it possible we will see a Pickens – McCain Commercial “swifboated” down the Nile? Now does this convict T. Boone Pickens of GOP posturing by the mere association of his closest company? No I am confident T. Boone Pickens the Texas resident must have turned the corner on his environmental consciousness. As well I am as equally sarcastic in my confidence that the Pickens campaign has nothing to do with the GOP attempting to control the national environmental discussion. Once again my sarcasm prevails in the previous remarks much like when I state that off shore drilling in environmentally protected areas will be the brightest idea next to the decision that allowed a drunken Captain to man the helm of the Exxon Valdez.

So break out the bubbly and crack open the Alaskan wildlife refuge as I conclude my assumptions of Rovian like GOP collusion with the T. Boone Pickens campaign could be proven wrong. I will ante up and bet a full house that Rove had nothing to do with this T. Boone Pickens campaign at the very moment I see Pickens meet up and coordinate with the Obama Presidential campaign at the Democratic National Convention. But since my understanding of politics seems to outshine my skill in Texas Hold Em I won’t bet my life on a Pickens - Obama environmental summit.
