Utah State Representative Karen Morgan Named Chair of Natrional Organization of Woman State Legislators

Washington, DC–January 14, 2008 – On January 3, 2008, Utah State Representative Karen Morgan (D-Salt Lake City) was sworn in as Chair of Women In Government’s Board of Directors at the 14 th Annual State Directors’ Conference held in Phoenix, Arizona. The national 501(c)(3), nonprofit, bipartisan organization of women state legislators provides leadership opportunities, networking, expert forums, and educational resources to address and resolve complex public policy issues, is led by a Board of Directors comprised of women state legislators from across the country.

“I am honored to serve Women In Government as Chair of the Board of Directors,” said Rep. Morgan, “I look forward to working with the Board of Directors, staff, and legislative members to advance sound public policy solutions in state legislatures nationwide.”

Rep. Morgan will serve as chair for one year, and will help to identify pressing public policy topics for the Organization’s policy agenda, while working to increase membership and support for Women In Government. “Representative Morgan joins a group of distinguished women state legislators who have served Women In Government over the past several years, including Indiana State Senator Connie Lawson (R-Danville), Former State Senator and Maryland Secretary of Aging Gloria Lawlah (D-Prince George’s County), and Former Michigan State Senator Beverly Hammerstrom (R-Temperance),” said Susan Crosby, president of Women In Government.
