Blessed Are the Warmongers

"Utah is Republican, so we're for war. So it's kind of weird we don't take a day off to respect that."

- Kristy Klemm, Riverton High School Student as found on the Internets.
Even warmongers need a day off.

Just for giggles...is there any difference in you adults picking on a high school student here and when you good folks accused the Mayor of Kanab of picking on that poor high school kid who disagreed about the city's family policy?

Pick on someone your own size. (Smile!)

Paul, this is not picking on the child, this is pointing out what douche-bags like you teach their children.

Go in peace my brother.

Paul,
Are you talking about the Mayor who called up the kid's superintendent and stake leader because he was mad at the kid's intelligent op-en decrying the city's choice to adopt an anti-gay "natural family" resolution that also said something to the effect of 'a woman's place is in the home (barefoot and pregnant)'? Because I'm pretty sure that there's a pretty big difference between the mayor literally picking on that student, and this blog pointing out the atrocities of what some Utah youth are being taught.

Paul,

I don't think anybody is calling for this poor dear young woman to be excommnicated from any church.

Wow. I guess the analogy was more correct than I thought!

To anonymous...perhaps a douche-bag like me ought to send my children to a public school wherein they could learn better...like the student you criticize?

To Misty...yes, that resolution. And there is no difference between the two examples. "Literally" picking on a student? Writing private letters or writing public blogs...the difference?

And to Emily..."excommunicate"? That is what you think the Mayor was asking for from the boy's Stake President? Better a private letter from an honest soul than to subject an unwitting young person to public blogs from "anonymous" and strangers.

Look, I caught you guys on a point of hypocrisy...and I was even having fun with you...and yet you get all uppity and can't admit when you cross the line. Pretty immature I think.

You're wrong...so just relax and move on to picking on...ME!

You Liberals... I'll kill all of you, unless you do the bathroom toe tap with me.

Lighten up. :)

Wow... classic.

What is it they say?? Out of the mouth of babes.

Paul,
your statements make no sense.
The student was wondering why we don't have a day to recognize the war. In other words, how serious do Utah Republicans take the war?
BTW, it is always amusing when conservatives use the word "hypocrisy" on liberals. I thought liberals didn't have values, at least that is what conservatives have been telling me for the past two decades.

The mayor of Kanab was using the time honored Utah technique of coercion against that high school student by calling upon his "elders in authority" to put a muzzle on him because he dared to speak out. Comparing criticizing a high school student's naivete on this forum with the coercive actions of that mayor is intellectually dishonest, to say the least.

I find it sad that there are children in this state who have been taught to believe that if you are a Republican, you need to automatically be in favor of Bush's tragic unnecessary war. This is being taught in the home and church Paul. Not in the public schools.

You guys are absolutely off the deep end if you think there are parents in this state that teach:

"Hey, we're Republican...we like war...let's celebrate killing people with a holiday."

I know you guys twist Memorial Day and Veterans Day into such notions, but normal people don't.

On the other hand, public schools DO teach all sorts of revisionist histories about war time scenarios throughout American history...not surprisingly to conclude "now children, all war is bad."

All war is unfortunate.

I certainly can lighten up. But you're comments were picking on a kid...and my dad was at Iwo Jima and he is a Republican...AND I never knew he fought in Iwo until I was 42 years old (yeah, like the movie)...I just knew he was in the Pacific during WWII. He never taught me such drivel as you guys are accusing...nor do I, as home school father, teach such nonsense to my children.

I don't think it's "off the deep end" to point out the Republican lie that if you don't support the war, you don't support the troops.

Paul,

Which state has had the highest approval in the nation for president Bush's handling of the war in Iraq? Parents imprint their attitudes and beliefs upon their children at home and at church and at home schools. Public schools educate, private schools (including home schools) indoctrinate. That is why they exist in the first place.

In order to make this statement Paul you would have had to have read every history book ever used in public schools in the United States and have attended every history class to hear the teacher's comments.

I know you really get around a lot and spend a lot of time reading but I don't think that even the great Paul Mero could have pulled this off.

Once again you are pulling information out of your ass and calling it facts.

You know John, you have hit upon an interesting blog tactic...say whatever you want and then, when criticized about what you have said, make sure to point out to the critic that he/she must live by different blogging rules.

That is, YOU say what you want in a limited blog context (because reasonable people know what you are saying is typically baloney and won't engage an exercise in futility by challenging you), and me responding with a generality that then requires (by you) that I certify, here and now, the veracity of my comments (because you know what I am saying is true and can actually be documented but would take time to do so...and you know I am not going to take the time to do it here and now for you).

There is a person over on the Trib site, on the apostate women's critique of Sister Beck's conference talk, who pulls the same tactic. He wants me to list, right there on the Trib comment board, all of the research that backs up my claim that two-parent legally married households are better for men, women, and children than any other family structure...soemthing the whole world knows is true, but this ignoramous doesn't for some reason and demands that I prove it to him. (I did offer to send this lazy intellect a copy of my book on the natural family so he didn't have to look too far for answers.)

While I do enjoy these chats, and like to help Rob "juice" his blog with a bit of adversarial jousting, you know I can't take the time it would take to document everything I say in these forums.

So, sorry to say, yes, sometimes you will have to take my word that I know whereof I speak. Or not, and simply ignore me. Your choice.

BTW, do you even know how school text books are chosen..why we have the ones we have? What I claimed is not hard to prove.

Or hey, better yet, why don't YOU take the time to research the topic and prove my comment false?

Best, PTM

Here is what you claimed:

"On the other hand, public schools DO teach all sorts of revisionist histories about war time scenarios throughout American history...not surprisingly to conclude "now children, all war is bad."

If it is not hard to prove, then prove it!

You have made yourself a public figure Paul, and you go around making these sweeping generalizations in public forums.
Then you chastise those of us who simply ask you for some facts to substantiate what you claim to be true. I don't understand why you have such a problem with that since you are apparently an expert in so many areas.

As an active participant in this Veteran's Day project, it disturbs me to see the liberal news media take student's comments out of context and parade them as if they are high-profile politicians. You should be ashamed of yourself for parading these comments as well.
