There was a flurry of articles in this morning's papers regarding the possibility the voucher referendum just launched to overturn House Bill 148 creating the most extensive voucher program in the country may be dead almost before it really got started. See the Deseret Morning News' New fight over vouchers, the Salt Lake Tribune's Loophole may ensure vouchers go forward, or the Daily Herald's Anti-voucher drive may be dead.

Voucher supporters seemed almost gleeful arguing those initiating the referendum should have filed to overturn House Bill 174, which amended the original law- House Bill 148- creating the voucher program in the first place. This morning, I happen to bump into one of my child’s teachers at the local grocery store in SLC.
We chatted about vouchers, I was expecting to get an earful when I mentioned to her how I was so grateful that the vouchers provision passed and got the governors signature.
To my surprise, she told me she agreed with vouchers and from her perspective as a public school teacher anything that promotes competition among schools and gives parents a choice is good thing.
The free market is beautiful thing.
She went on to tell me how much fear mongering propaganda that public the UEA and the NEA are spitting out, and how much of her valuable time outside the classroom was being taken up with is issue. Basically, the NEA is scared to death of vouchers working out in Utah because it will set a dangerous precedent for the rest of the country when other states see parents having choices. She also told me how intimated she and others in the school system felt because they support vouchers, but can’t express their support in public for fear of retribution
The above post is a lie and nothing more than an another attempt to discredit this great effort.
Who would this teacher be scared of?
PFC, your stripes are showing.
Just to be clear I meant the above comment.

Whose PFC?
