You have been signed!

For the second time during this campaign season I have paid a visit to Mr. Paul Miller's house in Centerville (no relation) to pick up campaign signs.

My first visit occurred very early in the race. Approximately five signs were left on his front lawn that were taken from my step-mother's property on Chase Lane in Centerville.

This morning Mr. Miller awoke to find his lawn covered with Miller for Commission signs including a giant 4' x 8' sign that was again taken from my step-mother's property.

Mr. Miller has a young daughter who attends Viewmont High School and our best guess is that she must be very popular.

The signs that were used came from properties ranging from North Salt Lake to Farmington.

(Fun fact: Mr. Paul Miller is Rep. Roger Barrus's next door neighbor)

1800 South and Orchard:

Both Bret and I lost several signs from this lot, however both of our large signs were left to greet the morning traffic. This corner lot was filled with signs from many candidates. Some were left but most of the smaller signs have disappeared.

The Call:

"Mr. Miller, there are two signs on my property that I did not authorize."

Very soon afterwards I received a second call stating the same. It seems that someone decided to re-distribute some of my signs.

My Front Lawn:
Some of Bret's signs where found today; in my front yard.

The Photo:
This morning I went to a candidate's breakfast with J. Dell Holbrook. On our way home we found some Democrat signs knocked down in Farmington. We pulled over to fix them and noticed that my wooden stakes were shattered. As I was replacing a sign a man in a black car (maybe a Audi or a Lexus) pulled over and took a photo of J. Dell. It was really weird.

Rob and Bret:

Both Bret and I have worked very hard to get our signs out. It could take three days to re-distrubte my signs; if I new all of the locations that they were originally taken from. Bret and I have been working together to fix what we can, but it can be discouraging.

I guess its all part of the game.

Rob, stop complaining...I don't think you have the stomach for politics.

It doesn't seem like Rob is complaining. What it sounds like is that you wish Rob didn't have the stomach for politics.

Wishful thinking.

Complaining? Rob is just making a point. It takes the commitment of campign staffers and numerous volunteers to ensure that their communities have signs. We need to value the work and the committment that goes into running a campaign, regardless of polictical party affiliation. Removing signs is simply childish.

Best wishes to Rob on Tuesday. You are the better of the two candidates. Regrettably if you are a R that is immediately good for 1/2 the votes from all of those non thinking knee jerk vote R at any cost lost souls.

On another matter if you would not mind...I posted this on the CC blog and I think it is important everyone know about this...Thanks
In Thursday's edition of 'Davis Candidates' in the Davis County Clipper there is a full-page ad blasting Judge Page. The ad is paid for by a Doug Butts who claims to be chairman of Citizens for an Honest Judicial System. I wondered about the ad and made a few inquiries including someone who works very close with Judge Page. I also spoke to an attorney as well. Seems Mr. Butts appeared before Judge Page and came out on the loosing end of a domestic or divorce case and the ruling went against him. Mr. Butts was ordered by Judge Page to pay his estranged wife. So, in an effort to get even with the judge, Mr. Butts took out the ad. Probably cost him a thousand dollars anyway.

Don't be fooled or taken in by Mr. Butts' sour grapes ad. The people I talked with said Judge Page is one of the most knowledgeable and competent judges we have in our judicial system and should be retained. He is one of the very best. Please let your neighbors and friends know to vote to retain Judge Page. Sorry Mr. Butts just take your lumps and move on.

removing signs is part of the game

Hey anymouse removing signs is the lowest of scumbag things to do. It shows no class and cannot be justified except by those who oppose free speech and the two party system of government. It smacks of things done by those who sneak around in the dead of night wearing their white capes and pointed hats. Stealing signs is a high school thing to do....Oh yea some people never got out of the high school thinking mode, kinda sounds like you!

I know this is from a while ago, but.. Give me a break. "Removing signs is part of the game."

Those are the words of someone behaving unscrupulously and trying to convince himself otherwise. Sadly, many politicians have now fully accepted this kind of "flexible morality" as a justifiable means to an end.
