A BEGINNING!

We can start here as well as anyplace. Please view a forwarded letter I received from Christine B. Helfrich CCRP. Christine seems to agree with this letter that was published on Sunday, March 30, 1997 in the Fort Worth Star Telegram

Accomplishment list

Recently I came across a welcome letter to delegates to the 1996 Texas Democratic convention in Dallas from state Comptroller John Sharp. It was titled “A Few Reasons I’m a Democrat.” I wish to share it with you.
Women’s Suffrage Amendment

Agricultural Extension Service
8-hour work day

100,000 new police on U.S. streets
When the Republicans blast “big government,” many voters buy it – until they realize that it’s programs and protections like these that the GOP is attacking.
I’m proud that we Democrats are committed to improving government, not destroying it, and that the Clinton-Gore administration engineered the biggest deficit reduction package in history and reduced the number of federal workers to its lowest level since JFK was president. And I’m proud of our own cost-cutting Texas Performance Review, our fraud-fighting Lone Star Card food stamp delivery system, and our self-supporting new Texas Tomorrow Fund prepaid tuition program.
Yes, Mr. Sharp, I am proud to be a Democrat, warts and all! Liberal is not a dirty word, even if the GOP would like to make you think so. Read Webster!
