Mayor Peter Corroon and Council Member Joe Hatch
Joe Hatch Kickoff
Salt Lake County Council
District 1
Joe Hatch graduated from Logan High in 1972. He received a bachelor's degree from Carleton College in Minnesota in 1976. At Carleton Joe met Sandra Secrest of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Joe and Sandy married and moved to Salt Lake City in 1977.
Joe received a law degree in 1980 and an M.B.A. in 1982 - both from the University of Utah. Currently Joe has a private law practice. Sandy became one of the first women to be licensed as an architect in Utah. She has had her own architectural practice since 1989. Sandy and Joe have lived in Salt Lake since 1984. They are the proud parents of two teenage sons.
Joe has been a long time activist for tolerance, diversity, economic justice, and environmental issues.
It was a nice kickoff for an established council member. Not only did Joe have some of our most prominent Salt lake County Democrats in attendance, he also had the best food I have ever had at one of these events.
When I asked Joe how he felt about being SLCSPIN's "Today's Jackass" he laughed and said that he thought it was pretty funny.
Down to earth and a proven leader its my prediction that Hatch will easily be re-elected to his seat come Novemeber.
