Jonathan G. Jemming Announces Campaign for Salt Lake County Council, District 4

Jonathan G. Jemming, former Assistant Attorney General and State School Board Nominee of Governor Olene Walker, announces his candidacy as a Democrat for the 4th District Seat on the Salt Lake County Council.

“Salt Lake County Government is maturing. We must continue towards the goal of honest, efficient and ethical government that is responsive to people’s needs,” says Jemming. “Put on your running shoes. This campaign is about expanding community involvement in county government and we have a big race ahead.” Jemming, an environmental policy analyst and attorney, is committed to clean air issues, sustainable community planning and open space preservation.

Jonny will be a great addition to the Salt Lake County Council. He will represent the constituents of District 4 and the entire county with their best interests at heart. Jemming grew up in West Valley City and attended Judge Memorial and Taylorsville High Schools. He holds a BA in History from Westminster College (Student Body President 1996-1997), an MA in Environmental Policy from Northern Arizona University and a JD from the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah, where he was selected as the O’Hara Fellow in Natural Resources and Environmental Law. He currently works as an analyst for the State of Utah and lives in Canyon Rim with his wife, Jennifer Rouse, and two sons, Teddy (10) and Forrest (6).

Jemming sits on the Supreme Court’s Advisory Committee on Model Utah Jury Instructions and has been involved with community organizations such as the Citizen’s Coalition for Fairness and Democracy, the Utah Statewide Independent Living Council, and the Brain Injury Association of Utah. He is a member of the Utah State Bar and is a licensed Realtor with the Salt Lake Board of Realtors. Prior to law school, Jemming taught Social Studies at Juan Diego High School and has since then remained active with youth sports, coaching basketball, baseball, and soccer.
