Gayle Ruzicka on KVNU's For the People

First, let me thank Rob for the honor of contributing on one of Utah's greatest blogs, the Utah Amicus. While Rob has been loyal to his Democratic Party, he has been a true champion of pluralism and a friend to Utahns of all political persuasions and walks of life.

Utah could use a few more Rob Miller's.

I thought I'd tip you off to an interview on tonight's KVNU's For the People. Gayle Ruzicka, President of the Utah Eagle Forum, joined us by phone to discuss the recent flap over Chris Buttars 'black baby' statement and today's subsequent 'hate lynch mob' comment in the Tribune.

I have been bombarded with phone calls from everyone I know with an opinion about the interview. Some thought we were too rough. Some thought we let Gayle walk all over us. Others thought she was out of line of calling our integrity into question. Needless to say, the interview was more heated than I had hoped for and unlike what listeners normally expect to hear on KVNU's For the People. For me personally, that was regrettable.

Have a listen and decide for yourself:

Tom,

I want to first point out that I generally agree with Ms. Ruzicka that Sen. Buttars isn't a racist. I think he's incredibly ignorant and politically incorrect but that is the extent of it. That said, you brought the issues up in a fair and professional manner and as a listener I thought you were completely free of any blame for too much heat in your interview.

Thank you for some great radio.

Ms. Ruzicka owes you guys and apology.

hey there you free speech phony, yeah right…YOU!!!and pull your pants up!!

you are a hypocrite liar who publicly preaches free speech (except when it is something with which you disagree)but who really hates open discourse.

let’s see how stupid you people really are: (rules of the truly stupid souless morons):

1. anyone who might say, “hey, you have a black mark on your {record}{shirt} {soul}” is a racist devil to be destroyed.
If i say “that black mark on your record is one ugly baby” I should have my gonads removed by a team of man hating lesbian trasgendered half elf midgets with a speech impediment.

Pay attention to which media outlets are pumping up this story. These are the enemies of free speech.

2. Only black people can use the word “lynched”, even if they live in Lynchberg, Tenn. or Lynchberg, Va. And they should be fired if they aren’t black. All whites who are named Lynch must be sent to a concentration camp run by …. you get the idea.

3. If i say “white lie” I am a racist who must be destroyed, unless I am a homo, woman, oriental, indio, or….anything besides a white male.

This reminds me of the lynching of Don Imus. And that was concocted to discipline the talk show host roster to not speak ill of Hillary.

Wow, the previous commenter has a lot of pent up anger (Buttars, is that you?). It never ceases to amaze me how such people can be so bold only as long as they don't let their identity be known.

Thanks, Tom, for the link to the broadcast. I wasn't able to tune in last night.

it does seem like the buttars controversey was fabricated to further a gay rights agenda.

i mean, heck...he didn't say anything racist.

is this political correctness gone mad? whatever happened to tolerance. i guess that is just a one way street.

oh well.

Tolerance? Like Buttars and Ruzika have for anyone who disagrees with their opinion?

I find it sad how people who support Buttars' bigotry love to tie everything to the "gay agenda."

Just recently in the Salt Lake Tribune Speaker Curtis did the same. He was upset about some bills, good bills, that would in his opinion make republicans look bad when they voted against them. These bills had nothing to do with the "gay agenda" but faster than a speeding bullet Curtis attached those bills to the "gay agenda."

Give it a break anonymous. When Buttars and the Right-wing Eagle forumites learn compassion and tolerance you can use the word. Until then, your rhetoric is nothing more than a smoke screen.

Gayle Ruzicka is misinformed and has an irrational and vehement agenda against the Gay community.

Despite that, we can only send our love and prayers that she is enlightened at some point in her path.
