Carl and Bud

While looking for my photo of Henry the Dog I found this photo of Rep. Carl Duckworth and Rep. Bud Bowman that I shot on the last night of the 2007 Utah Legislative Session.

As Paul Rolly reported on Decemeber 26, 2007 Rep. Duckworth has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called multiple myeloma, and Rep. Bowman had quintuple bypass surgery on December 27, 2007.

On Friday, February 1, 2008 Rep. Bowman celebrated his 80th birthday.

On Tuesday, February 5, 2008 Speaker Curtis asked Rep. Duckworth to act as Speaker Pro Tem in the Utah House of Representatives.

When President Hinckley recently passed away I realized that I needed to put more of a emphasis on my own spiritual development, and as a man who believes that prayer is a critical component in doing so, I also realized that it isn't always easy for me to ask for help for my own, self inflicted shortcomings. However, when I found the above photo of Carl and Bud I realized that it is much easier to ask for help for others, especially good people like Carl and Bud whose examples of courage are on display, everday, during the 2008 Utah Legislative Session.

I just wanted to thank you both for giving me a great reason to hit my knees tonight, and for inspiring me every time I set foot on Capitol Hill.

Withe every best wish,

The Utah Amicus

Mr. Miller, you're post on Rep. Duckworth and Rep. Bowman is another piece of evidence that my inclination to again register as a Utah democrat was a wise decision.

One question: Are you Mike Miller's son? Mike worked for Cal Rampton in the early seventies.

Thanks Mr. Irving. I was surprised by your photo since it looks a lot like Senator Frank Moss.

I am Mike's number one son. I hope that is a good thing. If you use the search engine on this blog you can find a few posts I have made about dad who passed away in October of 2002.

Thanks again for the kind words, and know that you can contact me at rmiller@utdemocrats.org anytime.
