Karen Mayne is an excellent choice to replace Senator Mayne.

Remind me, do you send three names to the Governor or just one?

By Utah Law, We send one name.

The title, Senator Mayne, has a great ring to it, doesn't it.

I don't know all the District 24 candidates, but Rep. Chavez-Houck sounds good, as does Rep. Henderson.

We need smart people with more estrogen on Capitol Hill.

How wonderful it will be to have two great Democratic women in the Senate.

Senator Pat Jones and Senator Karen Mayne! I call that a great start.

Let's hope this is just the beginning!

I don’t think Karen will be that effective, she will be shown some deference by the powers that be, but don’t expect her to have major influence on any policy decisions.

It will be interesting to see what happens to this seat when it comes up for full election, will the republicans swoop in and take it ? Will democrats allow her to keep it or will there be a power struggle within the party for someone younger and brighter to take the seat time will tell; time will tell.

As for Becker’s old seat – it will be interesting to see who wins. It would be a bad idea to give the seat to someone who is openly homosexual. It would hurt the already negative stereotypes that the Democratic Party is getting in Utah, of being a party under the thumb of the large gay and lesbian population in Salt Lake City.

It’s a known fact, that the republicans would love to get this seat back – remember this is Gov Walker’s former seat in the house. Next election, there will be real contest for this seat – and it should be fun to watch who gets it.
