Utah's voucher law subverts American values

Click on the link above to hear what the always eloquent Don Gale, former KSL editorialist, has to say about Utah's voucher law.

Steve, I must agree with Don's third paragraph.

Everything else is not only wrong, historically and morally, its romanticization of public schooling borders on...let's see, how do I say this politely...delusional.

That is the sort of romantic vision, when combined with the coercive power of government, led to Nazism and Stalinism...and what governs much of the ideology of the Hollywood Left today.

The great quest to Americanize everyone who is different than...well...Don Gale.

Forced to be Free...the Don Gale anthem. Ouch.

Paul,

We must invoke Godwin's law on you - YOU LOSE!

Paul,

No kidding...Godwin's law and your arguments are just scary weird.

Your whole argument against "Americanization" is kinda creepy. Do you really think we'd all be better off in Utah if we hadn't been "Americanized" at the turn of the century? Do you even believe that when you see communities like Hilsdale where the Americanization didn't stick?

You are kidding me, aren't you? That is how you argue away a point...invoke a ridiculous blogging rule?

In that case I should win every argument...I have been called a Nazi so many times from Tribune messagers (and probably from you guys) that I am moved to break into the songs of "Springtime for Hitler."

And, please, to compare Hildale with anything about authentic Mormonism is ignorant...let's see...Warren Jeffs and Gordon B. Hinckley??? That's just wrong.

I would think that you great liberals would actually agree that the Americanization of minority populations has been one of the ugliest chapters in American history. Oh yeah, I forgot, forced patriotization is okay when you strip everyone of their human rights, cleanse their cultures, and tear families apart for the RIGHT reasons (i.e. the common good).

Don Gale should be appointed the honorary mayor of Stepford, CT. (And you guys can be his flaks.)

Be good, PTM

Godwin's law is great - wait 'til you can use it - it's very satisfying :-)

Cultural cleansing?

The Hildale reference was a joke (I don't know who created the video) - a light-hearted moment in an all-too-serious campaign. Even you said I was taking things too seriously...

Nice debate today. Rob won the debate but you held your own (but of course you're not campaigning...).

Have fun.

Let me explain the American educational system. You see, for a long time there were two types of kids, the regular kids and the rich kids. Regular kids go to public schools where they get beaten up, experiment with drugs and, if they’re lucky, learn stuff. Rich kids (or, rather the children of rich parents), go to stuffy-sounding “prep” schools with names like The Waterford or the Milton Academy. Everybody at these schools is good looking, wears plaid uniforms and gets to go to Ivy League colleges. That’s how it’s always been.

That is, until now.
