Ummm, Ethan...

I guess the referendum was the right vehicle.

Only because the Supreme Court morphed it into the right vehicle.

"...Although HB 174 is not subject to referendum by the voters, it is subject to the consequences of the referendum on HB 148..."

An initiative would have been clean, decisive and final. No ambiguity. No need to ask the Governor, the Legislature, or the Courts to provide legal clarification.

Woulda, shoulda, coulda... it's all water under the bridge now. Best of luck to all concerned parties as they seek to educate voters.

An initiative was a slow-boat meandering along a lazy river. What the voters needed was a speedboat, hence all the sacrifice and sleepless nights pushing the referendum through.

Thanks, Ric, for your ongoing professionalism. Great to have you in the blogosphere.

I have a feeling that when it comes to high drama that we ain't seen nothin' yet! I'm bracing myself for what is sure to be an intense, hard-fought campaign.

See you around!

Craig.
