Can you imagine what education could look like in Utah if we actually worked together and kept our focus on the students instead of on ridiculous power plays? We all have differing opinions on how to best improve preparing our children for the future, surely we could spend the same amount of time and money we're wasting on the voucher fight to come up with something better than what we're doing now.
I totally agree with you. This has been my contention all along. We do the "Power play" instead of getting down in the trenches and doing the hard work. That's where we need to be, but instead we play games and make it political and distract the voters by talking about money and vouchers. We should be talking about how we're going to create a top notch education system.
Last week, it was reported that Utah is again, last in the country on student spending. We know we have great schools and great teachers. Just imagine if Utah was first in the nation for per pupil spending...then, we would have the best schools! Sadly, we play politics in Utah, point fingers and now the future of our children is at risk.
Isn't funny how the same legislators who have been saying that money won't solve the problems of public education are now saying that money for private academies is the solution?
