Jonathan W. Hebertson Ph.D.
Biographical Abstract
Dr. Hebertson is a professional educator who for over a decade has been teaching history at the collegiate and university level in the Salt Lake metropolitan area. He holds a Doctoral degree from Arizona State University, Master's and Baccalaureate degrees from Brigham Young University. All of Dr. Hebertson's degrees are in history. He has conducted extensive research in the field of Early Modem European History and is in the process of finalizing a work dealing with Sir Walter Raleigh as a sixteenth and seventeenth century explorer in South America.
Hebertson and his wife, also a professional educator, have been married for nineteen years. They are the parents of four children, three sons and a daughter, all of whom attend public schools.
Dr. Herbertson has submitted the above article on the historical context of public education. He has done so at my request. Jon is a great friend and even a better educator. My interest in history made me a good student, his style of educating made me a better one.
I was going to break his article up into a series, however I have decided that it needs to be presented in its entirety.

I wonder why people don't get it.
I see people fighting for vouchers because they think they should and yet these are the same people who will never send their children anywhere but to public school.
