SALT LAKE CITY, January 6, 2011 -- It was announced today that Senator Karen Morgan, the Minority Whip in the Utah State Senate, has named Emily B. Hollingshead as her new Chief of Staff for the 2011 Legislative Session and beyond.  This appointment is effective immediately. 

“I am absolutely delighted to have Emily working as my Chief of Staff.  Her expertise, vast experience with the legislative process, and ability to work well across party lines will be a tremendous asset to my office,” said Senator Morgan in a statement. 

Hollingshead will be primarily responsible for Senator Morgan’s constituent services and press activities.  She will also act as the primary spokesperson for the Senator during the 2011 legislative session and will work closely with the Senator on key legislative issues.

Hollingshead had previously served as the Communications Coordinator in the Utah House of Representatives Democratic Caucus.  In 2008, she was Karen Morgan’s Senate campaign manager, and played a key roll in Morgan’s senate victory.  Hollingshead has been active in Utah politics since 1988, where she a theatre arts / liberal studies student at Utah State University.  She is the owner of a marketing, design, and PR firm which provides PR and marketing services to small businesses.  She is also a political consultant to state legislative candidates in the mountain west, and currently resides with her husband and two children in Cedar City.
